Our Mission

The Westport Striped Bass Club (WSBC) was established in 1962 by dedicated fishermen for the promotion, protection, and conservation of striped bass and other fish from our Long Island Sound waters.

Members are united by a passion and dedication to increase the knowledge related to fishing while developing lifelong friendships and camaraderie in our shared love for fishing and striped bass.

The WSBC is for those with a passion for fishing, good fellowship, and sound fishing conservation practices. We teach fishing methods across all seasons and skill levels — from shore fishing to offshore techniques.

What We Do

From casting techniques to conservation — there's always something happening at the WSBC.

Educational Workshops

Monthly meetings feature expert-led sessions on plugging, live lining, trolling, chunking, bottom fishing, and seasonal techniques.

Fishing Tournaments

Competitive calcuttas and seasonal contests let members pit their skills against each other for prizes and bragging rights.

Fisherman of the Year

Our prestigious season-long competition crowns the top angler who demonstrates skill, sportsmanship, and dedication.

Fish-Tagging Program

Participate in regional fish-tagging efforts that contribute to scientific understanding of striped bass migration and population health.

Social Events

Annual summer cookouts, Christmas gatherings, and the popular benefit auction bring our community together beyond the water.

LI Sound Conservation

We stay engaged with the Long Island Sound Blue Plan and ecosystem protection efforts to ensure healthy fisheries for generations.
